Ovens and Furnaces - Refurbishment
Riley
Industries has large stocks of industrial ovens, the majority of which are
electrically heated models. All units are subjected to a comprehensive electrical
test and checked for general condition, in particular the ability to achieve
the required temperature with stable set point and good uniformity.
Ovens are fully tested to both manufacturer’s and customer’s temperature guidelines. The manufacturer dictates the ‘design’ temperature and the end user specifies their desired operating temperature within that original range. Control circuitry is also checked to ensure that it can meet a customer’s programming and process requirements.
Basic functional refurbishment procedures for ovens include replacements of parts as necessary covering new door seals, new air circulation fans, bearings and the balance of impeller assemblies. Other procedures include the replacement of heating elements, general repairs to fabrication and repainting. More technical functions can include the repair or replacement of Thyristor Controls, thermocouples and the addition of an over-temperature safety cut-out control to adhere to today’s more rigorous safety standards.
Furnaces
The refurbishment of Furnaces has many factors in common with that of ovens. However, because we are dealing with temperatures in excess of 750°C, there are other important procedures to follow. Furnaces generally incorporate more substantial forms of insulation, and many include brick linings for complete rigidity and efficiency. The re-bricking and repair of these is something we do in conjunction with our specialist sub-contractors N G Johnson Ltd.
Riley
Industries also undertakes extensive technical repairs and replacements on
many heavy-duty furnaces, including resistive coil elements and other critical
functions. Mechanical repairs are often required to furnace doors, where there
is heavy wear and tear on pneumatic components, hinge mechanisms and door
seals. Maintenance of these areas is very necessary to reduce heat loss and
improve the efficiency of the plant.
The hearth of a furnace is another critical area. Repairs are often required to the floor and front of the oven hearth, which becomes damaged by the constant loading and unloading of components and carrier systems.
In addition, Riley Industries undertakes the regular repair and replacement of jigs, fixtures and baskets, which are used to contain or carry components during heat treatment processes.

Driers
Driers
are a further addition to the ovens and furnaces category, but should also
be viewed alongside other areas in our product range, such as general surface
treatment & finishing, multi-stage industrial cleaning systems and vibratory
finishing machines.
Vibratory, centrifugal and conveyor driers are often used in conjunction with wet vibratory polishing equipment. They are also used in wet blasting and general cleaning to ensure that the product does not retain any moisture from the cleaning and blasting processes.
The refurbishment of mechanical driers includes the repair or replacement of heating elements, fans, motors and insulation. There is also the repair and replacement of electrical control circuits and safety interlocks as well as the general re-fabrication and painting of the units.
