Our vast stocks are made up primarily of quality OEM machinery. Most machines
are robust and reliable with many years of good working life left in them.
All machines are fully checked and tested before handover to the customer
and repairs and adjustments are made to correct all basic working functions.
If any major refurbishment is needed, the majority of this work takes place
in our own workshops.
For general polishing equipment, typical refurbishment procedures include the replacement of bearings, the installation of new electrical control units, such as starters and motors, and the testing and repair of pneumatic components. Typical replacement parts include bearings, spindle ends and the re-crowning of idler pulleys.
Centreless
polishing machines can be stripped down and rebuilt to full re-conditioned
standard, including the installation of new cork-feed wheels or leather-feed
belts. Similar refurbishment practices apply to Backstand Idler machines.
Belts and drive systems are replaced and some units can also be adapted from
polishing to linishing functions.
Moving from manually operated to semi-automatic and fully automatic systems, Riley Industries has the skills and resources to refurbish items such as flatbed graining and linishing machines, both single and multi-head versions. These machines have a range from 150 to 1200 mm wide.
Riley Industries has a large range of fully automatic systems, such as Reciprocating Polishing machines, Indexing and Continuous Rotary machines and Conveyor Polishing machines. In these cases the product moves automatically through a rotating mop. These units can be fully refurbished and modified to customers’ requirements, including the design and installation of complete work fixtures, as well as the repair and replacement of control units, handling systems and all contact media.

Vibratory Deburring and Polishing Machines
The
heart of most vibratory finishing machines is the drive-motor. Motors and
bearings in older machines wear out and can need replacement. This uneven
vibration places undue stress on the machine and can adversely affect other
important parts. The rebuilding and reconditioning of motors and drives is
sub-contracted to RMB Engineering, who are specialists in this field.
Work bowl wear-resistant linings are always checked on all vibratory machines and stripped and re-lined as necessary. These include both polyurethane and rubber materials, which are out-sourced to specialised separate suppliers.
The re-spraying and general finishing of machines to bring them up to a high standard of refurbishment is a major part of the work undertaken in our in-house workshops.
For deburring and barrelling machines, major refurbishment issues include the re-lining of the tumbling barrels and the replacement of new barrels and lids when required by our fabrication suppliers Rodway and Taylor Ltd.
